Friday is International Day!!  Please remember that the students who painted an African Design shirt will change into them Friday morning. (The shirts were kept at school.)
Namiah is bringing in Fun Friday Snacks.

MATH
We are finishing up subtraction word problems within 10. Please make sure to review that in subtraction the amount of the whole group is written first and that we use a minus sign. (Your child may even say they need "Linus the Minus.")

READING SKILLS AND WRITING
The sight words we are focusing on are where, through, much and right. Make sure to practice letter sounds daily with your child- use lowercase letter cards. The word family for this week is -ip(Only make real words... not pretend words.) Our blend for the week is sh-. We will continue practicing segmenting words, producing medial sounds for words and substituting sounds for words at the end.
Our Writing Lessons will consist on completing pages in our Kindergarten Memory Books. :) The class will brainstorm ideas for pages that should go into our books and then we will work on completing a few pages this week. While working we will stress the importance of spacing, sounds, sight words and punctuation.

DAILY AFRICAN LESSONS
We wanted to focus a little bit more on Africa before International Day arrives... and we have decided to incorporate fun, excitement and crafts! We will be learning about the pyramids in Egypt, discussing hieroglyphics, animals found in Africa and singing African songs!

JAMBO everyone, JAMBO!
Here is a short Youtube Video to get you all excited!
