It is a short week. The students have off on Thursday and Friday. :) Enjoy the time off and we hope everyone has a great Easter!!
We have FSA Testing going on at school and we will not have Resources this week. However Mrs. Pitts Mom, Ms. Lori, will be stopping by to complete an Easter Craft with the class. :)
MATH
We are continuing to join to parts to make a whole. Practice doing this at home with your child~ tell them a number and then ask them to tell you two parts that make that number. An example would be 6. Your child may say 1 and 5, or 2 and 4, or 3 and3, or they may surprise you and say 6 and 0.
Try it out! We have practiced in class with number 3-9.

ELA
The sight words we are focusing on are over and new. The rest of the year will consist of MORE SOUND WORK!! Make sure to practice letter sounds daily with your child. In class we will be practicing... Vowels, Blends, Digraphs, Medial Sounds and Word Families. :) The word family for this week is -et. (Practice asking your child , "Who can we invite to the -et House Party?" Please make sure all their responses are real words.) Our blend for the week is bl-. (Be ready for your child to think of lots of words!! A few examples that are in the slideshow I made= black, blanket, blouse.) We will continue practicing segmenting words, producing medial sounds for words (we will focus this week and next week on the A sound= short A~cat and long A~wake), substituting sounds for words at the end (ex bag~ change the /g/ to a /t/ and the new word is bat.)
Our Reading lessons will be about comparing and contrasting two similar stories. The stories we are reading are The Grumpy Easter Bunny by Justine Korman and The Easter Egg by Jan Brett. Both stories have a bunny as a main character and there are a few similarities... but there are lots of differences! :) Be ready to hear all about them from your child.
Here is a catchy short A video we will be watching this week and a video of the book The Easter Egg.
SCIENCE
Be on the look out for the moon again this week. We will be discussing the different ways the moon looks and making an entry in our Science journal.
