International Day 2015

International Day was a BLAST!!

We began the day with a Parade. Lots of students dressed up in costumes to represent countries around the world. :) Namiah and Abigail were in the Parade and we cheered them on. Namiah represented Jamaica and Abigail represented the Phillipines.

As soon as the Parade ended we were on our way to our first presentation with Mr. D. He drew Caricatures of a few students and one of me and Mrs. Pitts. We were drinking DD coffee. (haha The kids told him we drink iced coffee every day! haha)

After that we walked around the "World" and traveled to all the different Continents~ Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Antarctica, Australia and ended with Africa (our Continent of Study). In each area we had our passports stamped by a Customs Agent and sampled a food. The foods sampled were sticky rice, chocolate chip cookies, bananas, croissants, shaved ice, Lamington cake and fig newtons.

Then we had three more back to back presentations~ Interactive Story Telling Show. The class LOVED getting a chance to participate in the show and answer all her questions. Afterwards we went to the Multi- Purpose room and watched our very own Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Handres and a group of adults dance English Country Line Dancing. The class was so amazed to see Mrs. Handres and loved watching all the foot work. (There's a short video in the slideshow so you can experience a little of the dancing too.) Our last presentation was all about Morocco. We discussed the language, the traditions and the Dancing!! The class did a great job dancing to the beat of the music, but a few... their dance moves are way too fast for the syncronized moves. haha

Anyway, we hope everyone enjoyed International Day and look forward to the celebration again next school year!! ooh make sure to check out the International Shirts the students painted. Everyone worked really hard on them!
