Our Resources for the week are: Monday- #1-18 ART and #19-37 MUSIC and Friday- MUSIC. Friday is HAT DAY!! (We only wear the hats in the classroom and outside to Recess. Please send them to school inside of their backpacks.)
Carson is bringing in Fun Friday Snacks.

**Reminder: No School on Monday, May 25~ Memorial Day**

MATH
We are busy decomposing and composing teen numbers. Students are learning that the teen numbers can be broken into one ten and single ones. This is the foundation for place value which is a very important building block for the upcoming year in first grade. The students will learn that they can create addition and subtraction equations based on breaking apart these numbers. Continue working on Subtraction fluency cards. Fluency is addition and subtraction is so important.

ELA
The sight words we are focusing on are any, too, want and also. Make sure to practice letter sounds daily with your child- use lowercase letter cards. The word family for this week is -ack(Only make real words... not pretend words.) Our blend for the week is ch-. We will continue practicing segmenting words, producing medial sounds for words and substituting sounds for words at the end.
Our Reading lessons will be about figuring out unknown words in books. We will be discussing the words from the following books: EEK! There's a Mouse in the House and The Sleeping Pig. Here are the youtube video's for both books, check them out and discuss possible unknown words with your child. :)
We are still working on our Kindergarten Memory Books. They are too cute!! The students have been working hard at using their sounds and the Word Wall to find all their sight words.

SCIENCE
This week we are exploring seeds and plants. We will observe various seeds and learn how they are how a plant begins. Our class will take a nature walk this week too! I know the students will enjoy comparing different types of trees and plants we have on our school campus!
(Here is a picture of how our Class Tree looked back in January.  :) Be on the lookout for a new picture and see how our Class Tree looks now! )
