Don't forget... We are decorating t-shirts for International Culture Day. If you would like your child to decorate one, please send in a solid colored t-shirt by May 8th. (Any color t-shirt, we will use black paint to make the designs.) We will hang the t-shirts up at school and save them for the students to wear on International Day.

MATH
We
continue to master subtraction word problems within 10. Some students
are struggling with "take away" so we will be very diligent this week in
clarifying the order of a subtraction equation.
Here is the pirate subtraction video we have enjoyed in class!

ELA
The sight words we are focusing on are then, could, our and say. Make sure to
practice letter sounds daily with your child- use lowercase letter cards. The word family for this week is -am. (Only make real words... not pretend words.) Our blend for the week is cr-. We will continue practicing segmenting words, producing medial sounds for words and substituting sounds for words at the end.
Our
Reading lessons will be about comparing and contrasting characters in a book. We will be discussing
the book The Little Red Hen and recording our information about the characters on a T-Chart. Our
Writing Lessons will be about sharing facts about a Cheetah. We will listen to a book about Cheetahs and watch short videos about them.
SCIENCE
Comparing
real animals/plants and imaginary animals/plants has been fun. We move
on to comparing all types of animals and plants. We will focus on
animals found in Africa as this is our continent study for Kindergarten.
Also, we will check out the Decorah Eagles
and watch baby eagles hatch from their eggs. They are growing quickly.
Here's the website if your family wants to check it out at home. www.decoraheaglecamalerts.com
